Ten Commandments of Intercultural Communication
- Be attentive with the different social beliefs.
- Be knowledgeable on how to treat one person whatever his/her social and economic standing.
- Be conscious that all people have different ways in solving a problem and how to make a decision.
- Be informed of how other‘s idea about the time. The value of time for other are so important while the other have different way in dealing time.
- Be informed that individuals who not have the same values and beliefs have different way to feel secure and comfortable for themselves in a situation.
- Be informed with the way of life of a group, including beliefs, values, rules and communication. When individuals come from high-context or low context culture, for example individuals from high context cultures they share very specific and extensive facts with their group members. Unlike in the low-context they choose information which is necessary with a selected group members.
- Be attentive if a person communicate for others visually. Learn to read body language.
- Be conscious of the behavior of different person, what some good manners in your culture maybe differ to other culture.
- Be knowledgeable to a lawful and decent actions.
- English is the leading language of several countries. Be well informed to the language barriers. Always keep in mind that even English is the primary language not all individual is able to speak and understand that language. (Hahn, 2005)
